Garnishes: As always, garnishes aren't mandatory. But I recommend garnishing your G&T with cranberries (fresh or sugared) and/or a lime wedge.

It’s practical. Make a double batch of my cranberry sauce recipe, and use one for the gin while storing the other for the Christmas roast. It will keep for weeks. To serve 8, I recommend mixing: 2 ½ cups gin, 1 ½ cups cranberry simple syrup, and ½ cup lime juice. Add 3 cups of tonic water just before serving. Even after a couple of weeks, you could really see the change in color. In fact, even after a day or two the lovely pink started to seep, as above. We left them nearer a month and were delighted with the results.

Cranberry Sauce – Homemade. My cranberry sauce has tart, juicy whole cranberries and a sweet flavoured syrup with plenty of orange. When you make it, reserve a few fresh berries to freeze and use as decoration when you come to bottle the gin. It's very festive. Red cranberry juice, the juniper flavor of the gin... this drink screams "Christmas."

The red colour of the drink is absolutely festive, getting everyone into the holiday spirit. A skewer of fresh cranberries and sprig of evergreen rosemary makes it the perfect Christmas gin drink. To do this, put 200 ml water in a pan with 100 g caster sugar. Heat to dissolve the sugar and then mix in a little at a time. Take care. You can always add but you can’t take away.They all seemed to work well mixed as 1 part sugar syrup to 6 parts cranberry gin, at least to our taste. This is probably less sweet than many sloe gins, but worked well for this. The beauty of making your own, though, is you can adapt to taste. It is not essential to filter your cranberry gin, but I think that the results are well worth it. The easiest way is to use a sieve lined with kitchen paper If you plan on making lots of liqueurs that need filtering, it is worth investing in an inexpensive filter coffee cone and filters. Put the gin to the side for a minute, and in a separate pan add 1/4 cup sugar and 1/4 cup water. Dissolve the sugar and water over a low heat.
